Graham and Julia were very excited to return as Bears to their playgroup, having graduated from being Cubs.
Alas, it was not to be that Graham and Julia would spend the first day of school together!
Graham woke up with a fever, and Julia, well, she felt fine, chose her pink poodle outfit, and posed for her First Day photo. Poor Graham ran out to the car and cried when he saw us drive away, but Mariden, quick thinker that she is, told Graham that Julia and I were headed to the doctor's office.
Graham does not like going to the doctor, so he felt very lucky to stay home!

Basilicata, Italy 2010 Club Med
European Club Meds offer great relaxation--especially with children! After visiting our regular haunts in Umbria and Tuscany and spending time with friends, we gave ourselves a break and headed to a Club Med in the boot of Italy--well, the instep.
Graham and Julia marvelled at the train "Thomas, Thomas" or, to Julia, "Tommy! Tommy!" that drove around the village and down to the beach. Children ran around safely, there were shows every night "Uno Due Tre!" ... food round the clock, and no need, ever to apologize for children running around.
Which, come to think of it, you rarely, if ever, have to do in Italy. Children were born to visit Italy, the Italians innately seem to understand children.

Pretend "concerts" in Rome 2010
Um, I'm not sure which way the Roman Soldier went.
Uh, no, wait...he was wearing a helmet! Yeah, that's it. With this funny armour over his chest, and a feather in his helmet. Yeah! That's it.
I'm not too sure. My mommy said that two-year-olds are unreliable witnesses, I can't help it if I look 4 and if I'm 39" tall and grew one inch while we've been in Italy! It's the garlic, really. Hang on...this is annoying having a twin sister sometimes.
the Hotel d'Inghilterra in Rome, on Via Bocca di Leone, a walking street. Meaning that the two of them are pretending to conduct concerts, play the trumpet, the flute, the French Horn.
And, in Lady Julia's case, the piano on top of her brother's head.

Trulli Houses, Rome, etc
Graham outside of the Pantheon...none too thrilled by the Roman Soldier!Getting a closer look
Bambi was a biiiiiiig hit on our Club Med trip...never mind that we dragged her all of the way from DC to Rome to ... oh well. Once she was blown up, she became our family pet.. Not that the children would actually ride her in the pool!!! Now, trying to figure out where to get her blown up here in DC!
