Count Down to ONE

Amazing...one year...of course, the question: Where did the time go?
It's so odd to watch something, people, grow in front of your eyes from 5.11 oz and 6.6 ounce babies to these healthy 23+ pounds, etc etc 33+ inches long babies!!!!

Sleight of the hand/eye...

So adored, so loved!

Mimicking

The babies, as ever, are doing so well.
It was almost 70 degrees today in DC, so we (Mame, Therese and the babies) had a great walk around Eastern Market and the Hill today.

Graham, content in his stroller; Julia, content being held in her Ergo carrier by mom.
Sarah Johnson stopped by. Graham flirted (as ever) and even took a step or two for Sarah, while Julia waved and smiled and 'shared' her toys and cheerios...

Graham loves to rock out to music...er, that's his Mozart cube and his 'jazzie' baby toys...let's hope it doesn't change over to hip hop!
Julia likes to mimic what we do.
Oh no...I guess this is where we have to actually look in the mirror and reflect on 'what' it is we do, to be role models.
Darn.

No more formula! Or mushy baby food!

No more formula. Graham and Julia drank Whole Milk today and it changed their lives...they turned up their noses to the 'formula' I wanted to give them tonight at their late feeding (1 a.m tonight)...
Who can blame them?

And, Graham only wants to feed himself.
so far
yogurt
cheerios
pasta
bananas
tomorrow...we'll add chicken.
Cheerios are his best friend.

G'night

Chinese New Year Photos

We realize we are posting these late...but Graham and Julia have a friend in China who sent them these gorgeous Chinese New Year's outfits...the babies did not want to take them off!

Many many firsts

It's been hard to update the blog because so much has been happening with Graham and Julia!

Their 'first' party--complete with Party Dress and Dress Pants and shirt--was March 7. We had a violinist who is the head of the President's Own Marine Band, and his pianist, play. (Alas, it was the same day the memorial service in Ann Arbor took place for Aunt Jerrie Johnson...we will find photos at some point to post. She was quite a fun and loving dame!)

Graham was mesmerized by the music...that boy has rhythm and loves music. Music will quiet him almost as quickly as a bottle will (I said almost!). He watched the violinist for a good 35-40 minutes before getting squiggly--a marathon first! And Miss Julia? Little social animal that she is, she kept climbing up and down the stairs between her beloved Rachelle and me...and greeted friends who happened to come in late ("Bleeeh!!! Wave Wave.)

Then, this past weekend, Auntie Mary came to town, and we had TWO more musical events. Graham again sat and kicked his legs to the beat (and against a friend's leg) as he sat on the couch and listened to Brian Gantz play the piano. Julia again was wandering the hallway "Bleh! Ehhhh!" Wave. Wave.

The Sunday party involved a tenor and pianist...and the same reactions from the babies.
Food and folly and wine followed. Needless to say, we are all wiped out.

The babies also did many more things, of course...but photos will be posted this evening.
I'm just...too wiped out from all of the fun!!!

Too darn hot....too darn hot

the babies did not take well to the heat today in DC. They just got overheated and cried. Not like my babies!

That said, yesterday they attended their first b-day party for Caroline, who turned 2. I went alone...with the babies, and did not know what to expect.

Not to worry.

The moment I put Graham on the floor, he crawled toward a toy and entertained himeself...Julia soon followed. They were sooooo well behaved, it made me wonder: Are twins just so used to having to put up with another baby that they are more mellow than other kids?

There was a darling little girl, maybe 20 months, who took to Graham.

He did not take to her...but only because, in her glee for this little boy, she 'squished' him when she hugged him ever so tightly! Her mom kept saying 'Gentle, gentle' but not in time to stop Graham from a few tears.

Sigh. The boy has a future of girls chasing him ;)

And Julia? Ever so perfect, as ever.

Mr. Skip played his guitar, and Graham and Julia rocked out to Old MacDonald and Nessun Dorma...kidding.
I'll post photos soon.
It's just too hot!

Dirt, Dirt, it tastes so good!

Graham and Julia had a lot of firsts todays...
First b-day party (they were adorable! Well behaved!)

And, first real trip to the park...
While Julia slept in the stroller, Graham 'cut loose' and crawled across the playground, where he found the perfect spot: A pile of dirt.
He ate some.
His first 'real' dirt (god I hope it was dirt!)
He had it around his mouth, and other moms basically referred to it as a right of passage.
Yuk!
I also held him and swooped him down the slide...he loved it! His new place to go, and to love...
My little man.
Julia slept through it all!

Too cold to venture out...

Julia bides time until she can go out for a walk...Graham and Terence 'hand out' on a snow day...

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Julia greeted our snowstorm with her typical social grace: She waved at the snowflakes ... coming down around our outdoor Christmas trees (yes, they will be up until they show signs of failing...the white lights are so pretty!)

Will post photos soon...the babies are thriving and will be 11 months old on Tuesday.
sigh...
