Valentine's Party, surviving the 2010 blizzard, new home

So much has happened this past month!
Graham and Julia are settling in (ahem, taking over) their new home...after 1.5 years, we are finally in our gorgeous Federal home! Hats off to Terence, who truly produced the renovation with our contractor and architect.
Julia struts from room to room, Graham examines every lock, outlet, and has a particular fondness for our two Putnam library ladders in the front parlors.
The snowstorm packed us in for days, but fortunately there was so much for the babies to explore in the house. A particularly fun game (for them) was to go into Daddy's closet, shut both doors leading into it, and leave out the adults. And giggle wildly when we peeked into the closet.
Eventually, Graham and Julia will walk out of the closet wearing a pair of daddy's Rossettis.
Today, we all went to a Valentine's Day party at playgroup, which included a nanny appreciation day as well. Here is a shot of wonderful Mariden with Graham and Julia--Julia looking particularly pretty in her red velvet dress.

And Graham, the gorgeous little man, as ever!
More photos later, but this one for now.

Dinosaurs, tigers and bears, oh my!

A trip to the National Museum of Natural History reaped many interesting rewards for Graham and Julia...
Both children were more intrigued with the huge elephant in the main lobby than with the dinosaur bones. In the mammal section, Graham was fascinated by the giraffes, as you can see from one of the photos.
Enjoy the photos...we enjoyed the trip, and its aftermath--long naps for 2 days in a row!

Zoo Lights: Hedgehogs and Porcupines
and Aunt Annie! We went to Zoo Lights at the National Zoo.
Graham was fascinated by a hedgehog that moved possibly an 1/8 of an 1/8 of an inch in 15 minutes. Little man has focus and patience at times!
Julia said "Meow" and waved to the Lemurs and danced to the musicians outside.
All in all, a lovely evening.

Merry Christmas 2009
We had a lovely Christmas...Washington was covered with gorgeous snow...as seen here on top of our outdoor Christmas tree.
Cars, kitchen and tea sets, tractors, 'noisy' guitars and musical instruments, books and other goodies kept Graham and Julia happy.
Our dear friend Stuart Meyers kept Graham happy while dinner was cooking...and various friends and neighbors came over late into the night.
Here are some pictures, enjoy! I know we did.

Botanical Garden Train Trip
There was so much to see on Friday when our playgroup went to see the train exhibit at the Botanical Garden! There were fairy villages, lady bug trains and fantasy choo-choos...Christmas trees and wreaths all created a fairy tale setting for Graham and Julia.
And hey, how is this possible? How is it that our playgroup director and all of the friends of Graham and Julia were ALSO at this fantasy place?
How about that?
We took a bus to the Supreme Court, then a 'golf cart' from the Capitol "Hill" down to the garden.
On our way back Graham and Julia ran on the Library of Congress lawn, then sat on the steps at the Folger Shakespeare Library (photo above).
They never seemed to run out of steam.
Ahhhhh. The joy of 20 month olds!!!!
